Rascal Blues Chicken and Waffles originated in Akron, Ohio, founded by Daniel Morgan, a New Orleans native. Raised in a bustling 2-bedroom shotgun home with nine family members, Daniel developed his culinary skills at an early age, inspired by the love and great eats in his home.

Daniel’s affection for animals led him to dogs, particularly American Bulldogs. The blue American bulldog, named Rascal, became his cherished companion and later the inspiration behind the establishment’s name. Rascal’s quirky look and delightful personality endeared him to Daniel.

The connection between Rascal and food, specifically chicken, became apparent when Rascal would sit beside Daniel, attentively watching and expressing joy with every bite. One memorable incident involved Rascal cheekily snatching a piece of chicken from Daniel’s plate, sparking the realization that dogs indeed enjoyed chicken.
